How To Become A Vendor For Our Marketplace
“Imagine a digital storefront that captures the rugged beauty and independent spirit of Northwest Colorado—a place where the heritage of Moffat, Rio Blanco, and Routt counties isn’t just a location, but a brand. The NW Colorado Great Outdoors Digital Marketplace is that destination. We have built more than an e-commerce site; we have designed a regional engine specifically for local outfitters, makers, ranchers, and entrepreneurs. Our platform gives you the professional tools of a global retailer while keeping the heart of your business firmly rooted in our local soil.
As a vendor, you aren’t just a ‘listing’ in a database. You are a partner in a curated regional collective. Whether you are guiding a hunt in the backcountry, baking artisanal goods in a cottage kitchen, or selling rugged equipment for the trail, our marketplace connects you directly with an audience that values authenticity and local expertise. We handle the technical heavy lifting, the regional marketing, and the secure payment infrastructure, allowing you to focus on what you do best: providing the world-class products and experiences that make Northwest Colorado legendary.”
Frequently Asked Questions
“Everything you need to know about setting up shop in the Digital Marketplace.”
Who can sell on this marketplace? To keep our marketplace authentic, we require all vendors to have a physical presence or produce their goods/services within Moffat, Rio Blanco, or Routt counties. We are a regional collective dedicated to Northwest Colorado.
What does it cost to join? There are no upfront “entry fees” for most categories. We operate on a success-based model: we only get paid when you get paid. A tiered commission (7%–15% depending on category) is deducted from each sale to cover platform maintenance and marketing.
How do I get paid? Payouts are automated and secure. Once an order is marked as “Completed,” your earnings are available for withdrawal via Stripe or PayPal directly to your business bank account.
Do I have to manage my own shipping? Yes. You have full control over your shipping rates and methods. You can offer flat-rate shipping, local pickup in town, or even free shipping for neighbors within the three-county region.
Can I sell services like guided hunting or lodging? Absolutely. We have specific categories for “The Great Outdoors” and “Lodging & Camping.” You can list these as “Bookable Products” or advertisements, allowing customers to reserve their spot or contact you for details.
What about Colorado Sales Tax? As a Marketplace Facilitator, we collect and remit state and state-administered local sales taxes for sales made through the platform. You remain responsible for maintaining your own Colorado Sales Tax License and reporting non-marketplace sales.
Do I need insurance to sell here? For “High-Risk” categories like Outfitters, Guides, and Lodging, we require proof of a minimum of $1M General Liability Insurance and any required state licenses (DPO, etc.) to keep our marketplace safe and professional.
Can I sell digital products, like photography or guidebooks? Yes! Our “Art & Lifestyle” and “Culture & Literature” categories are perfect for digital downloads. The system handles the delivery of the file automatically as soon as the customer pays.
Who handles customer service and returns? You are the “Boss” of your store. You set your own return and refund policies. While the Marketplace Admin can intervene in rare disputes, you handle the direct communication with your customers.
How do I list my products? Once you pass the Setup Wizard, you’ll have access to a private Vendor Dashboard. It’s as simple as uploading a photo, typing a description, and setting your price.
Will my shop have its own unique web address? Yes. Every vendor gets a professional “Storefront” URL (e.g.,
nwcoloradoadventures.com/store/your-shop/) that you can put on your business cards or social media. Is there a limit to how many products I can list? For our standard vendor accounts, there is no limit! We want you to showcase the full range of what your Northwest Colorado business has to offer.
What if I’m not “tech-savvy”? Ivan’s video and our “Vendor Quick-Start Guide” walk you through every step. The dashboard is designed to be as easy to use as a Facebook post or an email.
Can I put my store on “Vacation Mode”? Yes. If you’re heading into the backcountry or taking a break, you can flip a switch in your dashboard to temporarily hide your products or let customers know when you’ll be back.
How does the Craig, CO Arbitration Clause protect me? By agreeing to our terms, all parties agree that any legal disputes are handled right here in Moffat County. This protects our local vendors from being pulled into out-of-state legal headaches.
